Parent Zone
The Nursery uses a variety of means for communicating with parents, including:
Via this Website
After Registering for an Account, parents of children attending the Nursery will be granted access to the password-protected Parent Zone. Here you will be able to read regular Newsletters, details of the weekly plan, fundraising events, committee meetings and much more using a Parents' Menu on this page
But also ...
- Informal contact - a member of staff will meet and greet parents/carers at the entrance door at the beginning and end of each class which allows for an informal chat
- Letters in your child's tray
- Email - newsletters and reminders about events in Nursery. Parents/carers without email will receive a copy via their child's tray.
- A Welcome Evening in September with an opportunity to find out more about how the Nursery works, to meet some of the staff and to ask questions.
- Your child's "All About Me" book which provides a link between Nursery and home
- The external notice board and office window which contain frequently updated information
- The committee notice board and parents' notice board within the cloakroom
- Two parent consultations per annum - November and June
- The opportunity to contact the Nursery Manager or your child's key worker by phone or via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it at any time
- The management committee and the AM and PM Class Reps on the committee
Promoting close Home, Nursery and Community partnerships
This is achieved in a variety of ways, for example by:
- Inviting parents/carers to take part in a variety of social and fundraising events
- Inviting parents/carers to take part in activities such as the parent library rota, gardening days, to share in a cultural festival or to take part in a theme
- Offering parents/carers the opportunity to be a member of Blackhall Nursery, and to be part of the Management Committee or Board
- Holding a Welcome Evening for parents/carers in September of every year
- Holding an Open Day and AGM every year
- Promoting close ties with Blackhall Primary School
- Promoting inclusion
- Making the children aware of the local neighbourhood e.g. Ravelston Park and Woods, Blackhall Library, Blackhall Primary School
- Encouraging the children to look after their local environment
- Giving updates on the Nursery's activities in local publications such as the Blackhall Bulletin and EH4 Business Directory.
